Goshen College knocked off No. 22 Bethel 5-2 on Wednesday morning at Ward Baker Park, using a strong start in doubles and four singles victories to secure the road dual match win. The Maple Leafs improved to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in league play with the result against the Pilots, who entered at 11-2 and 2-1 in the conference.

Goshen took control early by winning two of the three doubles flights. Blanka Bodo and Maria Clara Fonte earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Szilvi Ferenczy and Paola Lameda, while Marin Kawano and Uliana Dotsenko followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles match, featuring Sara Nino and Vishmi Serasinghe against Olessya Krot and Daniela Pineros, was recorded as a tie in the official results.

The Maple Leafs then closed the dual by taking four of six singles matches. Dotsenko delivered a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, beating Ferenczy 6-4, 7-5. Bodo also won in straight sets, handling Krot 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2. Serasinghe rebounded after dropping the first set and defeated Pineros 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4.

Nino added another point in a tight No. 6 singles match, outlasting Farida El Sayed 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 in a third-set match tiebreak. Bethel's two singles points came from Paola Lameda, who beat Fonte 6-4, 5-7, 10-3 at No. 3, and Sandy Sharaf, who edged Kawano 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-4 at No. 5.

Bodo and Dotsenko each figured prominently in the victory by contributing wins in both singles and doubles. Serasinghe and Nino also helped swing the dual with hard-fought singles wins after Goshen's productive doubles session had established the early edge.

Against a nationally ranked Bethel side, Goshen's ability to claim both doubles points and finish off close singles matches made the difference. The final point came from Nino's 10-7 match tiebreak at No. 6, sealing a 5-2 Maple Leafs victory in Mishawaka.
