Grant Union Cross-Country Teams Set Their Sights on a Strong Season

We are excited to begin a new season of Grant Union cross-country with encouraging developments for our girls team and an experienced group returning for the boys. Our Prospectors have been putting in the work, and both teams are preparing to make a strong showing when the season gets underway.

Girls cross-country has been separated from the previous 1A/2A/3A classification, placing our team in the 1A/2A classification for the upcoming season. The number of runners required to field a girls team in this classification has also been reduced to four. That change will allow Grant Union to compete as a team at the district meet this year after our girls participated only as individuals last season.

Freshman Kaitlyn Charette enters the season with a good foundation after attending the Steens Mountain running camp. We look forward to watching her progress alongside Ivy LaFramboise and Steens Mountain. Their development throughout the season will help build momentum for our girls program as the Prospectors work toward district competition.

Our boys team returns six varsity runners from last season and welcomes incoming freshman Thomas Shaw. With that experience, we hope to begin close to where we finished last year and continue building toward a strong district performance. The senior group includes Landon James, Colton Lyman and Espn LaFramboise, who will bring valuable experience and leadership to the team.

The Prospectors will open official competition with a twilight meet in Caldwell, Idaho, on Sept. 3. We are looking forward to seeing our runners back on the course and representing Grant Union with pride. Stay tuned for team pictures and more updates as we prepare for the first meet.
