Grant Union JH Volleyball Builds Momentum With Teamwork and Confidence

We couldn’t be prouder of how our girls finished a long, volleyball-filled Friday, Sept. 25. After a slow start, the Prospectors found their rhythm near the end of the first game, pulled together and began playing with the teamwork and energy we have been working toward. Their determination paid off with victories over Crane in all three games, A, B and C.

That growth continued against Burns. Although we lost the first set, the girls came together in the second and played some great volleyball. They competed through every point before falling just short, 27-25. More important than the final score was the way they trusted one another, played as a team and had fun on the court. Watching their confidence and connection grow was one of the best moments of the day.

Our Spotlight Players of the week are Paisley Smith and Zivah Moore. Smith earned recognition for her hustle, leadership and constant desire to improve. She accepts every challenge and immediately asks, “How can I do this better?” Her hard work and willingness to learn help push both herself and her teammates. Moore, one of our strongest hitters in practice, showed growing confidence when it mattered. She trusted herself, swung hard and delivered several amazing hits at the net. It was exciting to see her practice performance and enthusiasm carry into the game.

We will bring this momentum home against Pilot Rock on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. The team will then travel to Union for a noon match on Friday, Oct. 2. We are excited to see the girls carry the same energy, teamwork and joy into another busy week of volleyball. Keep working, keep believing and, most importantly, keep having fun!
