Grant Union Junior High Volleyball Teams Celebrate Strong Play Against Heppner
Our Grant Union Prospectors junior high volleyball teams brought energy, teamwork and plenty of positive moments to the court against Heppner on Sept. 10. From confident serving to smart sets and determined play at the net, each group showed encouraging progress while supporting one another and having fun.
The C team delivered good passes and consistently worked to get serves over the net. The players successfully used the full bump-set-spike sequence twice across their two games, an exciting sign of their growing communication and court awareness. Carmen led the serving effort with 16 successful serves over two sets. Just as importantly, the team enjoyed competing together and built confidence with every rally.
The B team won both games, 25-16 and 25-22, behind strong leadership from Paisley and Gracelynn. Gracelynn put 12 serves over the net, helping the Prospectors maintain pressure throughout the competition. Paisley provided excellent sets and consistently moved into the right position, giving teammates opportunities to make plays. Their leadership and steady execution helped the group finish a successful day with two well-earned victories.
The A team opened with a strong 25-18 win before falling 25-19 in the second game. Hitting errors at the net created challenges, and the team became frantic as those mistakes began to build. We will keep working on staying calm, playing through every point and responding confidently in difficult situations. Several players gave 110% throughout the competition, and we are very proud of their effort. Our next games are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, in Powder Valley at 5 p.m., and we look forward to seeing our Prospectors continue their growth.
