GU Junior High Football Celebrates Strong Performances Against Powder Valley and Elgin
We are proud to celebrate two spirited performances by our GU junior high football team. The team competed against Powder Valley in North Powder on Thursday, Sept. 17, before returning home to face Elgin at GU High School on Saturday, Sept. 19. Across both games, our players showed determination, teamwork and growth on both sides of the ball.
GU battled Powder Valley in a competitive 22-12 loss Thursday. One of the game’s biggest plays came when Ryder Moulton made an outstanding catch and run for about 45 yards, setting up a rushing touchdown by Cooper Cobb. Weston Lieuallen added a rushing touchdown in the fifth quarter, helping GU continue to compete through the final stage of the game.
The team delivered an impressive response Saturday, earning a 56-0 victory over Elgin at GU High School. Everyone got into the game and contributed to the team effort. Mikey Thunell made an impact on both sides of the ball, scoring a rushing touchdown and then returning an interception for a touchdown on defense just one play later.
Our defense played exceptionally well throughout the Elgin game, keeping the opponent off the scoreboard and creating opportunities for the offense. The offensive line also turned in a strong performance, opening running lanes and allowing our ball carriers to find holes and gain yards. We are proud of the teamwork, effort and resilience GU junior high football displayed during a busy week.
