Junior High Prospectors Fall 20-14 to Hines
Our junior high football team finished six points short against Hines on Thursday, Sept. 24, at Grant Union High School, falling 20-14 in a hard-fought game. The Prospectors scored touchdowns on both offense and defense, with Cooper Cobb contributing on the ground and Chance Timko returning an interception for a score.
Timko’s pick-six came early in the first half, giving our team a scoring play from the defense. The interception return turned a Hines possession into a touchdown for GU. It was one of the game’s key moments for the Prospectors and accounted for one of our two touchdowns in the matchup.
On offense, Cobb ran for roughly 100 yards and scored one rushing touchdown. His production gave the Prospectors a contribution from the running game to go alongside Timko’s defensive score. Cobb’s yardage total was approximate, but his touchdown provided the other scoring highlight for GU against Hines.
Those individual efforts were part of a game that ended with a one-touchdown margin between the teams. Our scoring came in two different ways: a rushing touchdown from Cobb and an interception return from Timko. Despite those scores and the hard-fought effort, the Prospectors finished with 14 points to Hines’ 20.
