Junior High Volleyball Wraps Up Busy Week With Sweeps and Tournament Success
Our Grant Union High School junior high volleyball teams packed three days with competition, taking on opponents Thursday and Friday before an all-day tournament Saturday. All three teams swept Crane on the road Thursday. That opening day brought wins across our A, B and C teams before the schedule shifted back home.
On Friday, we hosted Baker, with all three teams playing well. Our C and B teams put forth strong efforts but fell short in their matches. The A team won all three games, adding another sweep to the week’s results.
Saturday took a group of our players to Burns for an A-team tournament, where they won all six pool-play games to earn the top spot in the gold bracket. After a long wait, they faced Crook County, a 4A school. Our girls battled through two close games, dropping the first by just two points and the second by three. As coaches, we especially appreciated how they maintained their energy throughout the match while making smart decisions with their passes and hits.
Our player spotlight goes to Drewsey Watterson for consistent play throughout the week. Watterson uplifted teammates and showed strong leadership across the busy schedule, pairing a positive attitude with steady work on the court.
Next we travel to Prairie on Thursday, then return to host our home tournament Saturday.
