Prospectors Earn Three Wins During Busy Weekend at Powder Valley

Grant Union finished a demanding varsity volleyball weekend with a 3-2 record, earning victories over Days Creek, Nyssa and Powder Valley during five matches Friday and Saturday at Powder Valley HS. The Prospectors also faced Adrian and Trout Lake/Glenwood, competing through a full slate that tested their stamina, communication and ability to adjust to different opponents.
The trip began Sept. 18 with an overnight stay in North Powder before competition continued throughout the weekend. Grant Union’s three victories provided plenty to celebrate, while the losses to Adrian and Trout Lake/Glenwood offered valuable lessons for the next stage of the season. The Prospectors continued to battle through each matchup and maintained their energy across the long tournament schedule.
Facing five teams in two days gave Grant Union repeated opportunities to sharpen its rotations, build chemistry and grow more comfortable in pressure situations. The Prospectors responded by winning more matches than they lost, including a victory against host Powder Valley. That 3-2 finish reflected the group’s ability to reset between contests and compete against teams with different styles.
Grant Union’s junior varsity team continued the program’s competition on Sept. 21 against Crane. The Prospectors fell 3-1, but the four-set match showed clear improvement from their previous meeting with Crane. Greater consistency, stronger communication and growing confidence helped make the rematch more competitive, providing another encouraging step in the team’s development.
The Prospectors remain focused on reaching their best form during league play. Each match gives the group another chance to strengthen its on-court connection, learn from difficult stretches and turn steady improvement into results. Grant Union’s schedule lists a road date at Weston-McEwen on Friday, Sept. 25, as the Prospectors carry their progress into the next phase of the season.
