Prospectors Fall to Irrigon 3-0 in Season-Ending Play-In Match
JOHN_DAY, Ore. - Grant Union High School fell 3-0 to Irrigon on Thursday, October 22, bringing the Prospectors’ volleyball season to a close. A berth in the district tournament was at stake in the play-in match. The Prospectors entered with a chance to extend their season but finished one win short of that postseason goal.
Irrigon won all three sets to settle the elimination contest. For Grant Union, the result brought a disappointing finish to a season marked by the players’ hard work, growth and perseverance. The program recognized those efforts at season’s end, thanking the players for their commitment throughout the year rather than measuring their contributions solely by the final match.
The closing stretch also included a celebration of five seniors during Homecoming week. At Senior Night, the Prospectors honored Rillie Mitchell, Gracee Hueckman, CeCe Bate, Dilynn Komning and Makenna Forrester. The recognition celebrated their dedication to the volleyball program and the time, energy and memories they contributed during their years as Prospectors.
That tribute gave Grant Union a chance to thank its seniors before the season concluded. Their contributions were part of the program’s season-ending appreciation, which also extended beyond the players. The Prospectors thanked the families and fans who supported the team throughout the volleyball season.
