Prospectors Fall to Irrigon 3-0 to Close Two-Match Road Trip

JOHN_DAY, Ore. - Grant Union High School fell to Irrigon 3-0 on Saturday, September 26, at Irrigon High School, closing an overnight volleyball road trip with two losses. The Prospectors also lost in three sets to Weston-McEwen on Friday, September 25, but the two matches brought different performances from the team.

Against Weston-McEwen, Grant Union delivered one of its hardest-played matches of the season. The Prospectors worked together through difficult stretches and maintained their energy and determination despite dropping all three sets. That collective effort gave the team a positive performance to build on, even without a set victory.

Saturday's match did not carry the same intensity. Grant Union started sluggishly against Irrigon and struggled to find the competitive energy it had sustained the previous night. The Prospectors were unable to get themselves going as Irrigon won all three sets to complete the sweep.

The weekend highlighted the importance of both teamwork and readiness from the first serve. Friday's effort showed the level Grant Union could reach when its players competed together through tough moments. Saturday underscored the difficulty of finding that level after a slow start, making consistent intensity a focus as the Prospectors prepare for another week of competition.
