JOHN_DAY, Ore. - Grant Union High School placed third in the boys team standings while Espn and Kaitlyn recorded personal-best times at the Prospectors’ home cross country meet Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7th St Pk Cplx in John Day. Rain and cool temperatures accompanied the afternoon races.
Espn finished in 21:58, setting a new personal standard on the home course. The performance gave the Prospectors an individual milestone alongside their third-place boys team result in a meet featuring league competition rather than a head-to-head matchup.
Kaitlyn also improved on a previous best, finishing in 22:45. Grant Union had two runners compete in the girls race, giving that side of the program a smaller presence at the meet.
The weather supplied an additional challenge for the home outing, with moderate rain and a temperature of 47 degrees at the scheduled 2:15 p.m. start. Winds were 6 mph, adding to the cool conditions as the Prospectors competed.
