Embry-Riddle Repeats as Women’s Golf Champion, Ulibarri Earns Medalist Honors

LOMPOC, Calif. - Embry-Riddle completed another title run Wednesday, winning the GSAC women’s golf championship for the second straight year with a three-round total of 958 at La Purisima Golf Course. The Eagles closed with a 323 in the final round and finished at 22-over-par 94 for the tournament, 26 strokes clear of runner-up OUAZ.
In just its second year in the conference, Embry-Riddle has now claimed both GSAC championships available to it. The Eagles led from the opening round, starting with a 314 on Monday, following with a 321 on Tuesday and then holding their advantage through Wednesday’s closing round. OUAZ finished second at 984 after rounds of 323, 330 and 331, while Arizona Christian placed third at 996 with steady rounds of 328, 334 and 334. The Master’s took fourth at 1,037, followed by Simpson at 1,089 and Soka at 1,202.
Embry-Riddle’s depth again defined the team race. Lila Becker paced the Eagles with a three-round 239 to finish fourth individually, and Charlotte Giffin followed at 240 to take fifth. Olivia Zamarripa tied for sixth, and Emma Marshall finished 11th, giving Embry-Riddle four players inside the top 11 and reinforcing the consistency that kept the Eagles in front from start to finish.
The individual championship went to The Master’s Hannah Ulibarri, who built her position over the first two rounds and held it with a final-round 78. Ulibarri shot 75-74-78 for a 227 total, 11 over par, to win medalist honors by four shots. Hope International’s Miranda Cervantes made the strongest final-day push, closing with a 73 after earlier rounds of 83 and 75 to finish second at 231. OUAZ’s Chiara Israng placed third at 238 after rounds of 81, 77 and 80.
Arizona Christian also placed two golfers inside the top eight. Taylor Crowder finished tied for sixth at 241, while Nikki Bowen was eighth at 244. Bellamaria Mantini, who shared the first-round lead, also finished tied for eighth after an 85 in the final round. For The Master’s, Ulibarri’s victory provided the top individual result of the tournament even as the team finished fourth overall at 173 over par.
Played on the 5,930-yard, par-72 layout at La Purisima, the three-day event ended with Embry-Riddle once again at the top of the team standings and Ulibarri atop the individual leaderboard.
