Embry-Riddle tops Arizona Christian 4-1, moves on in GSAC Softball Championship

IRVINE, Calif. - Fourth-seeded Embry-Riddle (AZ) advanced in the 2026 GSAC Softball Championship with a 4-1 win over top-seeded Arizona Christian on Tuesday afternoon at Great Park Sports Complex, sending the Eagles to Wednesday’s semifinal at noon against Hope International.
Arizona Christian struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Dayna Herrera lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing home Rachel Martin for a 1-0 lead. Embry-Riddle answered in the top of the second. Katie Jamieson lined an RBI single up the middle to score Anise Romo and tie the game, then the Eagles steadily took control with one run in the fourth, one in the fifth and one more in the sixth.
The go-ahead run came in the fourth when Romo produced an RBI groundout to short, allowing pinch-runner Annalie Castanon to score for a 2-1 edge. Embry-Riddle added insurance in the fifth on Arianna Garcia’s RBI single down the right-field line, which scored Ryan Da Costa. In the sixth, Kayli Clark tripled to left-center and later came home on Jamieson’s sacrifice fly, stretching the margin to 4-1.
Claire Streeter delivered the decisive performance in the circle for Embry-Riddle. Streeter went the distance, allowing four hits and one earned run over seven innings while striking out 10. She worked around six walks and threw 138 pitches to secure the complete-game win. Arizona Christian pitcher Alyssa Grinstead also turned in a strong outing despite the loss, striking out 12 over seven innings while allowing four runs on eight hits.
Jamieson finished with two hits and two RBIs in a two-run game for Embry-Riddle, while Clark went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. The Eagles collected eight hits and left nine runners on base. Arizona Christian managed four hits, drew six walks and left 10 runners aboard, but could not generate another run after the opening inning.
The result capped only part of the day’s movement in the tournament bracket.
