Embry-Riddle tops Hope International 5-1, advances to GSAC softball championship game

IRVINE, Calif. - Embry-Riddle (AZ) moved into the championship game of the 2026 GSAC Softball Championship with a 5-1 win over Hope International on Wednesday at Great Park Stadium, using a three-run first inning and a complete-game effort from Claire Streeter to take control early and finish it late.
The Eagles struck quickly in the top of the first. After Katie Jamieson was hit by a pitch to open the game, Jade Bayless lifted a sacrifice fly to bring in the first run. Jill Bock followed with an RBI single, and Kealey Myhre added another run-scoring single later in the inning for a 3-0 lead. That cushion held for much of the afternoon as Streeter worked through seven innings, allowing five hits, one run, no earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts.
Hope International broke through in the bottom of the fourth when Breanna Lucero reached on an error by second base and Chey Navarro came home on the play, trimming the deficit to 3-1. But Hope could not build on it. Streeter kept the Royals from finding a bigger inning, and Embry-Riddle's defense limited the damage even after Hope put runners aboard. Hope finished with five hits and left seven on base.
Embry-Riddle added needed insurance in the seventh. Pinch-runner Briseis Ramirez scored on Bayless' triple, and Joy Sanchez followed with an RBI single to bring home Bayless for the final 5-1 margin. Bayless turned in one of the day's strongest offensive performances, going 2 for 2 with two RBIs, a double, a triple, one run scored and a hit by pitch. Leah Salas and Myhre also had two hits apiece as Embry-Riddle totaled 11 hits against Hope starter Kaitlyn Maaske, who went the distance and allowed five earned runs in seven innings.
The result sends Embry-Riddle to Wednesday's championship game at noon, according to the event summary provided. Hope International remains alive and is scheduled to face OUAZ in an elimination game at 3 p.m. at the Great Southwest Athletic Conference tournament in Irvine.
