The Master’s sweeps OUAZ for fourth straight GSAC men’s volleyball tournament title

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Top-seeded The Master’s closed out the GSAC Men’s Volleyball Championship the same way it controlled most of the afternoon, with precision and pressure. The Mustangs swept second-seeded OUAZ 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 on Saturday at The MacArthur Center, claiming the 2026 GSAC Championship and securing the conference’s automatic berth to the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Championship.
The Master’s, playing at home, improved to 22-1 and won its fourth consecutive GSAC Tournament title. The Mustangs overwhelmed OUAZ statistically, finishing with 43 kills and a .405 hitting percentage while holding the Spirit, who fell to 20-5, to 22 kills and a .114 clip. The gap showed up early and never really closed. The Mustangs were especially sharp in the opening set, hitting .609 with only one error and quickly separating on the way to a 25-14 win.
OUAZ showed more resistance in the second set and stayed within range for stretches, but The Master’s continued to win the serve-and-pass battle and leaned on steady side-out play. Isaac Seltzer helped pace that stretch and finished with a match-high 19 kills on .441 hitting, while setter Matthew Hamm directed the offense with 34 assists. The Mustangs gradually turned the second set into another comfortable finish, closing on a late run for a 25-18 decision and a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set followed a similar script. OUAZ battled to keep pace behind Jack Hubbard, who led the Spirit with eight kills, and Caeden Salmen, who added six. But The Master’s never lost control for long. Trace Oswald provided another spark with eight kills and a match-high five service aces, part of an 11-ace team performance that kept pressure on OUAZ’s serve receive. Preston Schmidt added 12 digs to anchor the back row as the Mustangs closed out the final set, 25-18.
The balance in The Master’s attack was difficult for OUAZ to solve. Four Mustangs hitters finished at .300 or better, and Hamm also chipped in three kills on .500 hitting. OUAZ had moments at the net, including two block solos from Hubbard, but the Spirit could not establish consistent attacking lanes against The Master’s defensive pressure and disciplined serving. The Mustangs also finished with 13 block assists and 32 digs, repeatedly turning rallies back in their favor.
