Traylor Scores Twice as The Master's Shuts Out Soka to Reach GSAC Championship Final

Josh Fisher | Great Southwest Athletic Conference | Nov 7, 2026

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Second-seeded The Master's (14-1-3) defeated third-seeded Soka (8-6-5) 4-0 Friday afternoon to advance to the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) Women's Soccer Championship final. Maddy Traylor scored twice for the Mustangs, who will play for their second consecutive conference tournament title on Tuesday.

The Master's established control early, building an 11-2 advantage in first-half shots. Soka goalkeeper Jazlynn Camacho denied Traylor in the eighth minute to keep the match scoreless, but the Mustangs continued to apply pressure. Traylor broke through in the 30th minute, converting a pass from Katie Trinh for the eventual game-winning goal. Breanna Fajardo added an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute, giving The Master's a 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Mustangs wasted little time extending their advantage after the break, scoring twice in the opening 11 minutes of the second half. Traylor completed her brace at 49:00 off an assist from Zaria Echemendia, pushing the lead to 3-0. Jane Hato then finished a pass from Taya Pickup in the 56th minute to cap the scoring and put the match out of reach.

Soka attempted to mount a response in the second half, recording all four of its shots on goal after intermission. Alanna Cabras and Marissa Jordan tested The Master's goalkeeper Katie Snow between the 62nd and 64th minutes, but Snow stopped both attempts. The Lions also received shots on goal from Sienna Manns and Sabrina Benjamin, but Snow finished with four saves to secure the shutout.

Traylor led all players with 10 shots, including five on goal, accounting for nearly half of the Mustangs' offensive attempts. Fajardo contributed five shots with two on target, while Hato added three attempts and played all 90 minutes. Pickup also went the distance, pairing an assist with a defensive effort that limited Soka to seven shots and no corner kicks.

The Master's finished with a commanding 23-7 advantage in total shots and a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. Camacho recorded six saves for the Lions, who saw their season come to an end following their second consecutive appearance in the GSAC Tournament semifinals.

The victory extended The Master's unbeaten run against GSAC opponents to 13 matches and secured a return trip to the conference championship final. The Mustangs captured the 2025 tournament title with a penalty-kick shootout victory over Embry-Riddle and will look to defend that crown on Tuesday, November 10.

The championship opponent and location will be determined by Friday's other semifinal between top-seeded Embry-Riddle and fourth-seeded Park Gilbert. An Embry-Riddle victory would send The Master's to Prescott, Ariz., for the title match, while a Park Gilbert win would allow the Mustangs to host the championship in Santa Clarita, Calif.
