Richard Kozub | Holy Name High School | Oct 24, 2025

The Holy Name Green Wave cross country teams are set to compete in the prestigious OHSAA Regional Cross Country Meet hosted at Boardman High School tomorrow, October 25th. This significant event will determine which teams advance to the state level, with the top 7 boys' teams and top 6 girls' teams qualifying for the next round. Under the guidance of head coach Kyle Knapik, the Green Wave has shown remarkable resilience and dedication. Coach Knapik praised the team's 'grit and commitment to excellence,' particularly highlighting their performance at the Districts last week. His optimism and confidence in the team's preparation were palpable as he prepared his athletes for the challenges of the upcoming regional showdown. The meet promises fierce competition, but the the Green Wave has some notable finishers in last week's District meet like Meka Balas, Grant Tomecko, Cecilia Gordan, Sienna Nemitz, and Bella Dinya. These key competitors represented Holy Name and helped them finish 4th in the District meet. The teams are not satisfied with Regionals and share the common goal of securing a spot at the state championships. With strategic preparations and a focused mindset, the Holy Name Green Wave aims to secure one of the coveted spots for both their boys and girls teams, ensuring their journey towards state championship glory continues. Good luck to both teams tomorrow. The girls run at 11:50am and the boys 12:30pm. Run Namers run!
