Holy Name High School Green Wave Dominates Sectional Final Against Buckeye Bucks

The Holy Name High School Green Wave defeated the Buckeye High School Bucks with a decisive 56-35 victory in a Sectional Final Game on February 15, 2025. The game, held at Holy Name High School's Scislo Court, showcased the Green Wave's strategy and execution, securing their advance in the postseason. The Green Wave, led by Claire Coljohn, who scored 20 points, also led the team in assists (3), rebounds (8), and steals (5). Emmalee Majoros and Jordan Cremona also contributed significantly, with Majoros scoring 10 points and Cremona adding 8 points and pulling down 7 rebounds. The game featured some memorable moments, including a 3-pointer by Noemi Cartagena with 5 seconds to go to cap the first half with a 30-16 lead. Sarah Abraham's buzzer-beater ended a strong third quarter that saw the Green Wave limit the Bucks to just 3 points. This quarter was crucial in setting the tone for the rest of the game, showcasing Holy Name's defensive prowess. With all 15 players getting a chance to contribute on the court and 10 players tallying a score in the book, the team demonstrated not only their depth but also a cohesive team spirit. Holy Name's next challenge will be against Lutheran East in the District Semi Final Game, set to take place on February 18, 2025, at Lutheran East. The Green Wave enters this game with a season record of 10-13, looking to continue their postseason journey.
