Holy Name High School Green Wave Secures Victory Over Beaumont
In an exciting Regular Season Conference basketball game on January 8, 2025, Holy Name High School's Green Wave triumphed against Beaumont High School's Bluestreak with a final score of 55-35 at Beaumont. The win brings the Green Wave to a balanced record of 5-5. The first half concluded with Holy Name leading by 27-21, setting a competitive tone. It was the third quarter that truly defined the game's outcome, where Holy Name's defensive prowess limited Beaumont to just 2 points, amplifying their lead and setting up a strong finish. Claire Coljohn led the scoring for Holy Name, delivering a robust performance with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jordan Cremona also contributed significantly with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Other notable performances included Bri Barker and Layla Rudolph, each adding 8 points, and Maura Mihalik with 6 points. From a defensive perspective four players had 3 or more steals and Emmalee Majoros took a charge. Coach's Reflections: "Our goal was to play four complete quarters and for the most part we did that. Our third quarter defense fueled our offense and allowed us to close out the game strong. Our defense held a good Beaumont team to two points in the third quarter," said Coach Iwais, highlighting the team's strategic execution.
