PARMA HEIGHTS, Ohio — Holy Name controlled the game from the opening tip and never trailed, rolling to a 66-29 victory over West Geauga in an OHSAA sectional final Thursday at Holy Name High School.

The Green Wave’s offensive balance and collective defense set the tone across all four quarters. Holy Name topped 20 points in three different quarters, repeatedly turning stops into scores in transition and in the half court. While the offense flowed through multiple options, the defensive effort kept West Geauga from ever establishing rhythm, forcing difficult shots and limiting clean looks at the basket.

Claire Coljohn led Holy Name with a standout all-around performance, finishing with 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block. Coljohn’s versatility showed throughout, as she initiated offense, attacked the glass and disrupted passing lanes. Her ability to impact every possession helped sustain Holy Name’s lead as the game progressed.

Joining Coljohn in leading the scoring surge were Jordan Cremona and Layla Rudolph. Cremona totaled 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block, providing timely scoring and strong paint play. Rudolph added 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block, frequently turning defense into offense with active hands and aggressive drives. Emmalee Majoros contributed eight points and two assists, giving the Green Wave another reliable option in the backcourt and helping direct the offense’s consistent ball movement.

Holy Name’s defense was anchored by Nalani Simon and Maura Mihalik, whose work often started possessions for the Green Wave. Their pressure made it difficult for West Geauga to initiate sets, routinely pushing ball handlers out of preferred spots and disrupting entry passes. That collective effort held West Geauga to just 29 points, allowing Holy Name to build and maintain a comfortable margin from the first quarter through the final buzzer.

The Green Wave’s offensive efficiency was matched by their unselfish play. Across the first three quarters, Holy Name relied on steady ball movement to create high-percentage opportunities in the paint and on the perimeter. Rather than relying on a single decisive run, the team methodically extended the lead with consistent production each quarter, reflecting a balanced approach and composure in a postseason setting.

With the sectional final victory, Holy Name advances deeper into the OHSAA postseason riding strong momentum on both ends of the floor. The performance showcased the team’s depth, defensive identity and ability to share the scoring load, positioning the Green Wave well as they turn their attention to the next round of tournament play.

#12 Holy Name hosts #14 Lakeview in a District semifinal match up on Tuesday 2/24 at home at 7:00pm.
