Imbler Builds Early Lead, Beats Cove 58-36

IMBLER, Ore. - Imbler established an 18-point halftime advantage and kept pace during a high-scoring second half to defeat Cove 58-36 on Friday afternoon. Imbler never trailed, controlling the game throughout and taking a 24-6 lead into halftime before both offenses came alive in the third quarter.

Quarterback Paden Phelps led Imbler's passing attack with four touchdown throws. Tight end Pedro Rivas caught three of those scoring passes, making the connection between Rivas and Yancey a central part of an offense that produced 58 points.

Imbler also consistently generated points on the ground. Running back Carson Yancey rushed for three touchdowns, giving the home team another reliable scoring option and helping it answer Cove's improved production after halftime. The combination of four passing touchdowns from Paden Phelpsand three rushing scores from Carson Yanceyallowed Imbler to maintain its advantage as the game opened up.

Cove responded after managing six points in the first half. The visitors scored 30 points after halftime, but Imbler countered with 34 during the same stretch. That response prevented Cove from cutting substantially into the halftime deficit and increased Imbler's final margin from 18 points to 22.

Defensive end Ethan Swigert provided a disruptive presence for Imbler's defense, helping slow Cove early while the offense built its lead. Imbler played under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 78 degrees, then finished the afternoon with contributions through the air, on the ground and along the defensive front.

Imbler now turns to a quick turnaround against Prairie City at home. That game is scheduled for Friday, September 4th, at 7 p.m. PDT.
