Kelso Falls 11-10 After Battle Ground/Prairie's Four-Run Sixth

BATTLE GROUND, Wash. - Kailynn Bolar/Prairie scored four runs in the sixth inning as time expired, erasing Kelso's three-run lead and handing the Hilanders an 11-10 loss Thursday. The late rally decided a game in which Kelso scored all 10 of its runs across the fourth and fifth innings.
The game remained scoreless through three innings before Kelso's offense broke through with seven runs in the fourth. Battle Ground/Prairie answered with two runs in the bottom half, leaving Kelso ahead 7-2. The Hilanders added three runs in the fifth, but the hosts responded with five to cut Kelso's advantage to 10-7 entering the sixth.
Chloe Doherty helped drive Kelso's offensive surge, going 2 for 4 with a single, a double, two runs and an RBI. Kailynn Bolar also finished 2 for 4 with two singles. Liberty Hatfield supplied a single and two RBIs, while Addy Heuer went 1 for 2 with a single, two walks, one run and one RBI.
Kelso received additional production from Aspyn Gravelle and Gabby Muro. Gravelle went 1 for 3 with a single, a walk and a run, while Muro recorded a single, a walk and scored twice. That combination of contact and patience helped the Hilanders put together consecutive multi-run innings after being held scoreless early.
Milena Hooper started in the circle and worked five innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits. She struck out two, walked four and faced 27 batters. Bolar took over in relief for the sixth and allowed four runs on three hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Kelso carried a 10-7 lead into the final inning but could not close out the hosts. Battle Ground/Prairie's four-run rally produced the game's final margin as time expired, ending a back-and-forth contest one run after Kelso's 10-run outburst over the fourth and fifth innings.
