Kelso Falls to Skyview 15-0 After 10-Run Third Inning

KELSO, Wash. - A 10-run third inning proved decisive as Kelso High School fell to Skyview 15-0 in varsity slow-pitch softball Monday, October 5, in Vancouver. Addy Heuer led Kelso with two hits, including a double, but Kelso was held scoreless through five innings before the game ended under the run rule.
Skyview scored twice in the first inning and added one run in the second to build a 3-0 lead. The third inning widened the gap considerably, with Skyview scoring 10 runs to extend its advantage to 13-0. Kelso did not score in any of those first three innings.
Heuer finished 2 for 3 with a single and a double, providing Kelso with both a multihit performance and an extra-base hit. Aspyn Gravelle also contributed at the plate, going 1 for 2 with a single. Their combined three hits did not translate into runs against Skyview.
Liberty Hatfield and Bella Britt each went 1 for 2 with a single, giving Kelso contributions from several spots in its lineup. Together, Heuer, Gravelle, Hatfield and Britt accounted for five hits, including four singles, but Kelso could not turn that production into a scoring inning.
Skyview added two runs in the fourth to complete its scoring and finished with 18 hits, including two solo home runs. Milena Hooper pitched all four innings for Kelso and took the loss. Kelso remained scoreless in the fifth, ending the game with a 15-run deficit under the run rule.
