Kelso Uses Six-Run Fifth to Beat Mountain View 14-4

KELSO, Wash. - Kelso broke open a three-run game with six runs in the fifth inning and defeated Mountain View 14-4 in six innings Monday, Sept. 28. The home team collected 14 runs across four productive innings, with Aspyn Gravelle and Bella Britt combining for six hits and eight RBIs.

The teams traded runs in the second inning before Kelso gained separation with a five-run third. Kailynn Bolar scored once in the top half, but Kelso's response created a 6-3 advantage. After a scoreless fourth, the offense delivered the decisive fifth-inning surge, sending six runs across to stretch the lead to 12-3. Both teams scored in the sixth, with Kelso adding two runs to complete the 10-run victory.

Gravelle paced the lineup by going 3 for 4 with two triples, a double, three runs and four RBIs. Britt also finished 3 for 4, recording three singles, one run and four RBIs. Their combined production accounted for more than half of Kelso's runs driven in and helped turn a competitive early game into a commanding lead.

Milena Hooper contributed in the circle and at the plate. She pitched all six innings to earn the win, facing 27 batters and allowing four runs on four hits with one strikeout and four walks. Hooper also went 2 for 4 with two singles, two runs and one RBI. Gabby Muro added two singles, one run and one RBI in a 2-for-4 performance.

Kelso received production throughout the order. Liberty Hatfield went 1 for 4 with a single, one run and one RBI, while Kailynn Bolar finished 1 for 4 with a single, one run and one RBI. Rosie Deseive reached twice, going 1 for 2 with a single, one RBI and a walk.

The defense supported Hooper with steady work behind her. Hatfield recorded seven outs at first base, Gravelle had two outs and five assists, and Muro contributed three outs and four assists.
