Provets Celebrate Eighth Graders With Thrilling 2-1 Victory

Providence Catholic School’s Middle School Volleyball A Team honored its eighth graders with a thrilling 2-1 victory over St. Mary Magdalen on Monday, Sept. 28, at Glahn Gymnasium in San Antonio. The Provets delivered an exciting performance on a night devoted to celebrating the players, their friendships and their contributions to the program.

Before the match, Providence recognized eighth-grade players Ali Rodriguez, Olivia Ramirez, Mia Aguinaga, Gabriella Nuncio, Iliana Valle and McKenzie Ford, along with manager Anais Perez. The gym lobby was decorated for the occasion, giving the honorees a festive welcome before the A Team carried that celebratory energy onto the court.

The Provets set the tone with a dominant opening set, finding an early rhythm and putting St. Mary Magdalen under pressure. The visitors answered by taking the second set, leveling the match and setting up a pivotal response from Providence. Rather than allowing that setback to linger, the Provets regrouped and regained control by winning the third set.

That resilience reflected the spirit of the evening. The A Team stayed together through the match’s changes in momentum and found a way to finish with the victory. Every rally added to the atmosphere inside Glahn Gymnasium as classmates, families and supporters cheered on a group of eighth graders who made the celebration memorable both on and off the court.

The Evolutions Middle School Dance Team added another highlight with a performance that brought even more energy and fun to the event. Between the decorated lobby, the pre-match recognition, the dance performance and the three-set win, eighth-grade night became a true Providence community celebration.

The Provets will return to action on the road against Holy Cross Middle School Girls-A at 5:30 p.m. CDT Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026. They will carry forward the poise and determination that helped turn a special night into a winning one.
