Provets Race to Third-Place Finish at Seguin Invitational

The Providence girls delivered a terrific team performance Saturday morning, placing third overall out of 13 teams in the race at the Seguin Invitational. Lily Whitehead led the Provets with a fourth-place finish in 14 minutes, 7.7 seconds, setting the pace for a strong showing throughout the lineup.

Providence Catholic handled the warm conditions well, combining a front-running effort from Whitehead with valuable pack strength deeper in the field. The result placed the Provets among the top three teams in a large field.

Whitehead’s performance gave Providence Catholic an important low finish near the front of the race. She crossed in fourth place, establishing herself among the invitational’s leading runners and giving the Provets a strong foundation in the team standings. Her 14:07.7 finish was the team’s top individual result.

Behind Whitehead, sixth graders Nadya Cole and Catalina Fetter demonstrated the value of pack running. Cole finished 30th in 15:39.6, while Fetter followed in 31st at 15:39.9. Only three-tenths of a second separated the Providence Catholic teammates at the finish, creating a memorable side-by-side result and showcasing the team’s depth.

The full Providence Catholic group looked sharp in the eighth-grade competition, and the third-place finish rewarded a balanced team effort. With Whitehead challenging near the front and Cole and Fetter working closely together in the pack, the Provets turned several significant individual performances into an impressive invitational result and another proud day for Providence cross country.
