Unity Seats Brings Veterans and Neighbors Together for Rangely Friday Night Lights
Friday night football will provide the setting for remembrance and community connection when Dolores High School visits Rangely High School at 5 p.m. MDT on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, in Rangely. The United Seats event will bring the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, local veterans and other community members together to support student-athletes while building stronger relationships across the county.
Several local veterans will attend as guests of the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office through the US United Seats Experience. First responders, community members and local government representatives also will take part. Unity Seats uses the shared experience of sports to bring people with different viewpoints together, seating them beside one another as neighbors rather than adversaries. The game offers a welcoming backdrop for conversation, listening and the simple connections that can grow from cheering together.
The evening will carry special significance on the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Rangely High School plans to recognize first responders, veterans and active-duty military personnel and observe a moment of silence for the nearly 3,000 people who died. That tribute will connect national remembrance with gratitude for those who have served Rio Blanco County and the country.
