Unity to Bring Rio Grande County Together at Sargent-Mancos Game

The Sargent High School Farmers will host the Mancos High School Blue Jays at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Sargent School District RE-33J, with a special section reserved for Sheriff Robinson and her guests through the US United Unity program. The game will showcase talented young local athletes while creating space for neighbors to strengthen connections despite any differences of opinion.

Unity brings law enforcement leaders together with community members who hold a wide range of viewpoints, purchases their tickets and seats them alongside one another at a sporting event. The Rio Grande County Sheriff's Office will take part with residents from all walks of life who share an interest in coming together, listening to one another and displaying their diverse patriotism.

This event will honor first responders, active-duty military members and veterans while commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. For a close-knit and supportive community, the evening will offer a fitting way to recognize service and sacrifice while gathering around the energy and hometown pride of a Sargent High School football game.

Special Unity announcements will be made during the game. From their shared section, Sheriff Robinson and participating community members will be able to discuss a wide variety of topics in a relaxed setting, learn more about one another and enjoy the Farmers-Blue Jays matchup as neighbors.

The evening reflects the Sheriff's Office's commitment to building trust through personal connection. With local athletes competing on the field and residents sitting together in the stands, Unity will turn a shared fan experience into a celebration of service, conversation and the community ties that unite Rio Grande County.
