Poulton's overtime extra point lifts Shrine past Bishop Foley, 15-14

Grant Poulton converted the decisive extra point after Nathan Maffucci found Luke Robinson for a 5-yard overtime touchdown, lifting Shrine to a 15-14 home victory over Bishop Foley Sept. 18. The Knights answered after Bishop Foley scored first in overtime but failed to add the extra point.
Points were difficult to find throughout regulation. The teams were scoreless through three quarters as Shrine's defense limited Bishop Foley to 169 total yards and forced two turnovers. The Knights also protected the football, finishing without a turnover despite converting just 3 of 12 third downs and none of their four fourth-down attempts.
Robinson finally broke the stalemate in the fourth quarter, returning a Bishop Foley fumble 16 yards for the game's first touchdown. Luke Starrak caught the ensuing two-point conversion to give Shrine an 8-0 lead. Bishop Foley responded with a touchdown and successful two-point conversion, tying the game at 8 and forcing overtime.
Bishop Foley opened the extra session with a 2-yard touchdown run, but the missed conversion left the Knights within six points. Maffucci then connected with Robinson for the tying score. Poulton followed with the winning kick, completing Shrine's response and ending the defensive battle.
Jaycee Foster powered Shrine's offense with 168 yards on 22 carries, including a 71-yard run. His production accounted for most of the Knights' 179 rushing yards and helped Shrine finish with 223 total yards. Maffucci completed 8 of 20 passes for 44 yards and the overtime touchdown, while Owen Wisniewski had three catches for 21 yards and Josh Zboril added two receptions for 13 yards.
Shrine's defense and special teams supplied important contributions throughout the game. Zboril recorded four pass breakups and returned a kickoff 50 yards, while Nikolai Kollenberg returned a fumble 33 yards. Starrak and Ashton Firek each made five tackles, and Aidan Groth recorded two tackles for loss. Poulton averaged 40 yards on three punts, placing all three inside the 20 before delivering the kick that secured the one-point win.
