Shrine Catholic High School defeated Cabrini 42-21 on Friday, Oct. 9, at Shrine, with Owen Wisniewski breaking a third-quarter tie on a 66-yard kickoff-return touchdown. The Knights scored the game’s final 21 points.

Cabrini struck first with an 89-yard touchdown pass on a two-play drive lasting 23 seconds. Shrine answered with Nathan Maffucci throwing touchdown passes of 26 yards to Josh Zboril and nine yards to Owen Wisniewski. A 47-yard interception return for a touchdown by Luke Starrak extended the Knights’ lead to 21-6. Shrine stopped Cabrini on downs during a scoreless second quarter and carried that advantage into halftime.

Cabrini erased the 15-point deficit in the third quarter. After a Shrine turnover, an eight-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion trimmed the margin to 21-14. A 14-yard scoring pass and an extra point tied the game before Wisniewski returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. Wisniewski then caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Maffucci, putting the Knights ahead 35-21 entering the fourth quarter.

Maffucci completed all six pass attempts for 111 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Wisniewski finished with two catches for 49 yards and three total touchdowns, while Zboril caught three passes for 39 yards. On the ground, Jaycee Foster gained 200 yards on 23 carries, including a 45-yard touchdown run after another fourth-down stop in the fourth quarter. That scoring drive covered two plays in 58 seconds.

The Knights forced three turnovers and committed one. Wisniewski added an interception and a forced fumble, while Starrak recovered a fumble in addition to the interception-return touchdown. Foster and Ashton Firek each made nine tackles, with Foster recording three tackles for loss. Zboril defended five passes, and Cabrini finished 0-for-2 on fourth down.

Shrine gained 323 yards, including 212 rushing, while Cabrini totaled 378 yards. Grant Poulton made all six extra-point attempts as the Knights scored touchdowns through the air, on the ground and on both defense and special teams.
