Shrine rolls past Mt. Clemens 49-6 in Homecoming Game

Shrine turned its Homecoming Game into a 49-6 victory over Mt. Clemens Sept. 25, 2026, using a quick-strike offense and four takeaways to pull away at home. Nathan Maffucci connected with Owen Wisniewski for a 79-yard touchdown on a one-play drive in the first quarter, giving the Knights a lead they expanded with three touchdowns in the second quarter.
Maffucci opened the second-quarter scoring with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Josh Zboril. Wisniewski followed with a 1-yard touchdown run, and Luke Starrak broke free for a 32-yard score to put Shrine ahead 28-0. Mt. Clemens answered with a 3-yard touchdown run before halftime, cutting the Knights’ lead to 28-6.
Shrine added 21 unanswered points after the break. Maffucci found Wisniewski for a 32-yard touchdown in the third quarter, their second scoring connection of the night. Zboril then returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown before finishing the scoring with a 13-yard run in the fourth quarter. Grant Poulton converted all seven extra-point attempts.
Maffucci completed 9 of 12 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns. Wisniewski caught three passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, rushed five times for 52 yards and another score, and made six tackles with one tackle for loss. Zboril also scored three touchdowns, adding four catches for 31 yards and four carries for 25 yards to the interception return.
The Knights finished with 366 yards on 44 plays, an average of 8.3 yards per snap. Shrine rushed for 206 yards and averaged 6.6 yards per carry, with Starrak leading the ground attack at 90 yards on 12 attempts. The Knights converted five of eight third downs and held the ball for 24 minutes, 54 seconds.
Shrine’s defense limited Mt. Clemens to 146 total yards, including 23 through the air. Ashton Firek recorded six tackles, five solo, while Luke Robinson recovered a fumble and broke up two passes. Poulton and Jack Dwyer also recovered fumbles, and Nikolai Kollenberg and Andrew Baranowski each recorded a sack. Keegan Nichols added two tackles for loss as the Knights closed their Homecoming Game with three scoreless defensive quarters and a decisive home victory.
