The Wheeler County Rattlers swept South Wasco County 25-15, 25-16, 25-17 on Tuesday in Mitchell, Oregon, pairing two controlled sets with a decisive comeback in the third to complete the 3-0 victory.

The Rattlers established their attack early and maintained steady control throughout the opening set. Consistent hitting from Lindzey Neasham, Nola McGreer, and Traycen Earnest helped Wheeler County pull away for a 25-15 win. Setter Molly McMurray distributed the ball effectively, giving the Rattlers multiple attacking options and preventing the defense from settling into a rhythm.

That formula carried into the second set. Wheeler County continued to receive dependable swings from their hitters while McMurray directed the offense during a 25-16 victory. The nine-point margin sent the Rattlers into the third set with a commanding two-set advantage.

The match shifted sharply at the start of the third when South Wasco County built a 12-4 lead. Wheeler County responded with its strongest rally of the night, closing the set on a 21-5 run. Juuna Watkins delivered two big blocks on consecutive points during the comeback, and another block by Molly Davis, helped turn the momentum firmly toward the Rattlers. Wheeler County completed the rally with a 25-17 win, finishing the sweep without allowing the match to reach a fourth set.

The comeback added a resilient finish to a match built on consistent hitting, effective setting and timely work at the net. After controlling the first two sets, the Rattlers adjusted under pressure in the third and used their blocking to erase the largest deficit of the match.

Wheeler County heads to Wallowa on Friday, September 11, to take on the Cougars with a 6 PM start.
