Garaway Beats Strasburg 154-178 as Kylie Miller Shoots 30

MIDVALE, Ohio - Garaway combined four rounds of 45 or better to defeat Strasburg 154-178 in a girls golf match Tuesday, Sept. 1. Kylie Miller earned medalist honors with a 30, while Lily Lyons led the Tigers with a 38 in clear, 80-degree conditions.

Kylie Miller provided the lowest score of the match and gave Garaway the foundation for its 24-stroke victory. Reegan Gerber followed with a 36, giving Garaway two of the day's three sub-40 rounds. Addy Hershberger shot a 43, and Sarah Akers completed the team's scoring with a 45. Those four rounds combined for Garaway's winning total of 154.

Lyons paced Strasburg with the Tigers' lone round below 40. Allie Koprivec added a 43, finishing level with Hershberger for the third-lowest score among the counting players from both teams. Lily Shepler was one stroke behind at 44, and Lora Abdel Basset rounded out Strasburg's team total with a 53.

Strasburg's top three players combined for a 125, but Garaway built its advantage through the top of the lineup. Kylie Miller and Gerber totaled 66, 15 strokes lower than the combined 81 posted by Lyons and Allie Koprivec. Garaway also had the lower fourth counting score, with Sarah Akers's 45 finishing eight strokes ahead of Lora Abdel Basset's 53.

Maddie Yoder also competed for Garaway and finished with a 57, which did not count toward the four-player team total. The Tigers received rounds of 44 or better from three golfers, led by Lyons' 38, but Garaway's two low rounds created the separation in the final standings.
