MIDVALE, Ohio - Gavin Weaver earned medalist honors with a 38, leading the Strasburg Tigers to a 175-181 victory over the Ridgewood Generals on Wednesday. Strasburg placed three counting scores at 44 or better to secure the six-stroke win in clear, 85-degree conditions.
Weaver delivered the lowest round of the match by four strokes. Jeffery Secrest followed with a 42, matching Ridgewood's best listed score, while Nick Cleveland added a 44. Lathen Culbertson and Henry Hershberger each carded a 51, with one of those rounds completing Strasburg's four-player team total.
The Tigers' depth behind Weaver proved decisive. Their counting rounds of 38, 42, 44 and 51 gave coach Maddox Kruger's team a 175. Emmett Fierbaugh completed the Strasburg lineup with a 72.
Bentley Bush led Ridgewood with a 42, while Collier Surgernor was also credited with a 42 among the Generals' top finishers. Ridgewood's full scoring group under coach Jake Glasure included Collier Surgernor at 42, Owen Seigel at 48, Kyle Johnson and Monti James at 49, and Grady Allen at 53.
Using the Generals' listed counting scores of 42, 42, 48 and 49, Ridgewood finished at 181. Strasburg gained four strokes through Weaver's medalist round and added separation with Cleveland's 44, which was lower than Ridgewood's third and fourth counting scores.
The result gave Strasburg a balanced victory built around one sub-40 round and two additional scores in the low 40s. With a six-stroke margin, every counting round contributed to the Tigers' win.
