Winton Woods surged into the Boys District Final with a dominant 82-26 victory in the district semifinal Tuesday night in Liberty Township, racing to a 26-4 lead after the first quarter and never looking back.

Senior guard Isaiah Mack Russell delivered one of the most prolific offensive performances in program history, finishing with 43 points and knocking down 10 3-pointers. His 10 made threes matched DeForrest Riley’s mark for the second-most in a single game, trailing only Christian Wilkins’ program record of 12 set last season.

The Warriors’ fast start set the tone. Winton Woods overwhelmed the opponent on both ends in the opening quarter, turning defensive pressure and rebounding into transition chances and early 3-point looks. By the end of the first eight minutes, the Warriors held a 22-point cushion at 26-4, effectively seizing control of the district semifinal and forcing the opponent to play from behind the rest of the way.

Russell’s shooting stretched the defense throughout the night, spacing the floor and opening driving lanes for his teammates. His scoring flurries fueled multiple runs as the Warriors steadily built on their lead, while the defense limited the opponent to just 26 points for the game. The combination of perimeter shooting and sustained defensive intensity kept the margin lopsided into the second half.

While Russell provided the headline performance, Winton Woods also showcased its depth and balance, with 11 different players entering the scoring column. Nate Dawson and JaQuawn Walker added 8 points apiece, giving the Warriors additional production on the perimeter and in transition. Dasai Bronson chipped in 5 points, while DeMarion Finklea scored 4.

Jayden Harris and Kendez English each knocked down a 3-pointer to finish with 3 points, and Ideem Cooper, Josai Hill, Brian Key Jr. and KeMarion Hallums each contributed 2 points. The widespread scoring underscored the efficiency of the Warriors’ offense, which maintained its pace even as the rotation expanded in the later quarters.

With the decisive semifinal win, Winton Woods advances to the District Final, scheduled for Friday, March 6, at Xavier University’s Cintas Center with a 6 p.m. tipoff. The will play league foe, the Anderson Raptors. The Warriors enter the championship game riding momentum from an 82-point offensive output and a defensive effort that held their opponent to 26, looking to carry that form into a bid for a district title.
