Winton Woods Warriors Clinch District Championship with a 53-44 Victory Over Miamisburg Vikings

In a thrilling display of resilience and skill, the Winton Woods Warriors boys basketball team claimed their first District Title since 2011, defeating the Miamisburg Vikings 53-44 on February 28, 2025, at the Vandalia Butler High School.
The Warriors, led by top scorer Cash Ingram who notched 15 points, secured their victory in a closely contested battle where they maintained a slim lead by half-time with a score of 23-22. Other significant contributors included Christian Wilkins with 14 points, Frank Latham with 11 points, and Nate Dawson with 9 points, each playing crucial roles in building the team's score.
A pivotal moment came in the fourth quarter, where the Warriors were exceptional from the free-throw line, making 11 of 15 attempts. This accuracy was a critical component of their strategy to keep the Vikings at bay and secure the win. The team's free throw performance coupled with strategic plays brought home the long-awaited title.
"It's great to see hard work pay off, but we are not finished. Still work to be done," said Cash Ingram following the victory. Coach Pilgrim also praised his team's effort, "Guys fought hard, all in, stayed together, and fought through the mistakes. Gotta love March Madness basketball."
Looking ahead, the Warriors will face the winner of the Lima Senior vs. Anthony Wayne contest on March 5, 2025, at the Elida Field House. With this significant win under their belt, Winton Woods now boasts an impressive record of 22-2 for the season, clearly demonstrating their capabilities and setting high expectations for the forthcoming challenges.
