Winton Woods High School Secures Dominant Victory Over Ponitz High
On February 4, 2025, the Winton Woods High School varsity boys basketball team showcased an impressive performance against Ponitz High School, taking home a commanding win with a final score of 86-32. The game, held at Ponitz High School, saw the Warriors, led by Christian Wilkins' record-breaking night, defeat the Golden Panthers in a regular season face-off.
Christian Wilkins set the Warriors ablaze with an incredible display of scoring, achieving a new school record by racking up 52 points and sinking 12 three-pointers. This erased the previous record held by Deforrest Riley, who scored 45 points with eight threes in a single game. Alongside Wilkins, Emonte Weah and Cash Ingram contributed significantly, each adding 12 points to the board. The team's defense was lauded as 'fantastic' by Coach Pilgrim, who praised the players for their unselfish play and their strategic focus on supporting the hot shooter of the day.
"Guys played great defensively and played very unselfish. Kids found the hot shooter and kept feeding him," remarked Coach Pilgrim, highlighting the team spirit and collective effort that led to their victory. As the Warriors' record improves to 13-2, they look forward to their next challenge against Kings High School, scheduled to be played at home on February 7, 2025.
