Winton Woods High School’s girls wrestling program turned in a strong showing at the Girls ECC League Meet on Saturday in Loveland, placing third in the league tournament behind a pair of individual champions and five additional podium finishes.
Junior Amena Greene led the Warriors with a first-place finish at 140 pounds, securing the team’s top result of the day. Greene navigated a deep bracket to claim the title, providing a key anchor in the middle weights for Winton Woods and helping drive the overall team score into the top three.
At the upper weights, freshman De’Yaunna Hunn delivered another championship performance for the Warriors, winning the 235-pound division. Hunn’s title as a first-year competitor highlighted the depth emerging in the program and gave Winton Woods a major boost in team points in the heavier weight classes.
Winton Woods also earned three runner-up finishes. Junior Cori Blevins took second at 145 pounds, adding crucial points from the middle of the lineup. Freshman Jocelyn Watson claimed second at 155 pounds, while freshman Raylyn Scott finished second at 235 pounds, giving the Warriors a 1–2 presence at that weight and reinforcing the team’s strength in the upper divisions.
The Warriors’ depth continued to show with two third-place finishes in the lightweights. Junior Precious Oghenekaro placed third at 110 pounds, and freshman Jada Dewald added a third-place medal at 115. Those podium efforts across several weight classes helped Winton Woods stay in contention in the team standings throughout the tournament.
With two individual titles, three silver medals and two third-place finishes, Winton Woods converted a balanced lineup into a third-place finish in the ECC League tournament. The performance underscores the program’s mix of experienced upperclassmen and impactful freshmen, positioning the Warriors well for the remainder of the postseason schedule.
