Winton Woods Warriors Advance to State Championship After Overtime Victory Against Big Walnut

In an electrifying State Semi-Final clash on March 9, 2025, the Winton Woods High School Girls Varsity Basketball team showcased resilience and skill to secure a narrow 58-55 overtime win against the Sunbury Big Walnut Eagles. The intense matchup, held at Butler High School, marked a significant victory for the undefeated Warriors, pushing their season record to a perfect 27-0. Despite trailing 31-22 at halftime, the Warriors staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, thanks to key performances from their players. Daniah Trammell led the scoring with 23 points, while Ra'Khyia Prince contributed crucially, including a dramatic three-pointer with just 30 seconds left in regulation, tying the game and forcing overtime. Additional support came from Niyala Harmon, Berry Blankumsee, Whitley Davis, and Ryan Davis, who collectively added significant points and defensive plays. Post-game, Coach Carlton Gray praised his team's tenacity, stating, "We practice it all the time, a situation where you have to battle back. They bought in. They just kept fighting." This mindset was evident as the team executed under pressure to seal the victory. Look forward to more action as the Warriors prepare to face Whitehouse Anthony Wayne for the State Championship at the University of Dayton Arena on March 14, with tip off at 7:30.
