Winton Woods Warriors Clinch Regional Championship Amid Stellar Performances

In a commanding display of basketball prowess, the Winton Woods High School Girls Varsity team captured the Regional Championship title with a decisive 54-16 victory over the Start Spartans on March 1, 2025, at Princeton High School. The Warriors, known for their cohesive play, saw contributions from a host of players, with Daniah Trammell leading the scoring with 11 points. Ra'Kiyah Prince followed closely with 10 points, underscoring the depth of the team's offensive capabilities. The game began with Winton Woods establishing a dominating lead, outscoring the Spartans 19-2 in the first quarter, a gap that Start could not recover from. Halftime saw the Warriors leading 28-7, a testament to their defensive strength and strategic play. By the final buzzer, the scoreline read Winton Woods 54, Start 16. Niyala Harmon, Whitley Davis, and Micala Reese also made significant contributions, scoring 8, 7, and 6 points respectively. In total, nine different Warriors players scored during the game, highlighting the team’s versatile offensive strategies. Reflecting on the victory, star player Daniah Trammell shared, "It is so much fun playing with this group of girls. We play hard for each other. While this is awesome, we still have unfinished business." Coach Gray noted the team's maturity, stating, "The girls showed great maturity after getting a fast start, locking in and not letting them get back in it."
