Ashley DeHaven is sectional runner-up as Eagles enter big week in tennis

Joe Magill | Avon High School | Oct 4, 2026

Avon’s Ashley DeHaven finished as Division I sectional runner-up Saturday in the continuation of a match that was halted on Thursday by darkness. DeHaven lost to Mallory Koch of Strongsville, 7-6, 6-0.

The upcoming week is a huge one for the Eagles, who play at Hudson on Monday in a Coaches Cup match that will determine which team competes in the state final four.

Avon also has five players who earned district berths—DeHaven in singles and the teams of Sam Jackson/Grace Gedeon and Samantha Gault/Karina Marsden in doubles. The district tournament will be held Thursday and Saturday at the Springside Athletic Club in Akron with players seeking to earn one of six berths to the state tournament.
