Wednesday was a day to celebrate the 10 seniors in the Avon bowling program. It also was a day for both the boys and girls from Avon to defeat Clearview at Nautical Lanes. The boys won, 2,533-2,220, to up their record to 7-5, while the girls won, 1,586-1,251, to even their record at 6-6.

The 10 seniors in the program are Ryan Pfeifer, Nick Sanchez and Grady Stipe among the boys, and Ava Benninghofen, Ava Budway, Abigail Jones, Sophia Majerus, Molly McEwen, Kara Patton and Juliet Triplett.

"Senior Night is a true celebration of not only our seniors, but of our Avon Bowling family,” said coach Robin McQuaid. “We acknowledge our seniors but also celebrate the importance of family and the dedication it takes to have an athlete in a high school sport. It is by far one of our favorite events of the year. After competition, we always invite all of our athletes and a parent/family member to bowl together in a ‘Family Fun Night.’ Time is precious and the date to graduation is ticking away. We hope these memories last a lifetime for our kids and their family."

Leading the way for the boys were Nathan Stewart and Sanchez, with both setting personal records. Stewart set two PRs, as his high game of 246 was his best, as was his series total of 460. Sanchez set a series PR, rolling 192-256 (447). Also competing for the Eagles were Stipe at 221-179 (400), Austin Wolfe at 192-197 (389) and Bennett Ernst with a 224.

The girls were topped by Triplett, who led all competitors at 137-165 (302). Benninghofen was next for Avon at 128-164 (292), followed by Kailynn Forbis at 133-118 (251), Kara Patton at 126-98 (224), Grace Freeman at 119 and Cameron Gallup at 109.

The Eagles will next take to the lanes on Monday when they host Brunswick at Nautical Lanes.
