Avon Eagles Girls Varsity Basketball Celebrates Coach's 250th Win
The Avon High School Girls Varsity Basketball team secured a 55-40 win over Midview's Middies on Feb. 10, adding to the victory Coach Maggie Ferrando's 250th career win. The game, which took place at Avon, was a solid display of the Eagles' capabilities particularly in the second half. The Avon Eagles lead at halftime was 27-19, and, coming out of the break, they surged with an impressive 10-1 run that set a tone for the third quarter. Leading the charge on the scoreboard was Molly Drenik with 18 points, closely followed by Amelia Holbrook, who contributed 13 points, and Abby Owens, who added 11 points of her own. The strategic plays of the Eagles were coupled with their relentless defense, which helped them hold the Middies to a final score of 40. Coach Ferrando's milestone win added a special significance to the game, as the team honored the achievement with a celebratory picture marking the occasion. This win brings the Eagles' final season record to 12-10 for the Avon High School girls. They now fon the next game scheduled for Feb. 17 tournament game against NDCL, to be hosted at home at 1pm
