Avon Eagles Secure Commanding Victory Over Amherst Comets in Basketball Showdown
In a pivotal Southwestern Conference matchup on December 4th, the Avon High School Eagles demonstrated their prowess on the court with a decisive 47-22 victory against the Amherst Comets. Held at Avon High School, the home team capitalized on strategic plays to clinch their fourth win of the season, maintaining an unbeaten record of 4-0. The Eagles, led by standout player Alaina Pagan who scored 15 points, took control early in the game and held a halftime lead of 18-12. A significant moment occurred just before the first half concluded, when junior #25 Abigail Owens nailed a three-pointer from a perfectly executed inbounds play, extending their lead and setting the tone for the rest of the contest. Coach Castrilla praised the team's performance, stating, "The team plays aggressive and drives for every ball which opens up the offense to get good looks."
