Avon girls golf finishes fourth in Rush Family Honorary Golf Tournament

Featuring an all-underclassman lineup of three freshmen, two sophomores and a junior, Avon’s girls golf team fared well Monday in the Avon Rush Family Honorary Golf Tournament at Oberlin Golf Club, placing fourth out of 15 teams.
The Eagles posted a team score of 360, two strokes ahead of rival Avon Lake. Magnificat won the event with an exceptionally good score of 301. The Blue Streaks won the Division I state title in 2024 and placed second in 2023 and last year. The top three players from last year’s squad all returned.
The team standings were as follows: 1. Magnificat 301; 2. Brunswick 325; 3. St. Joseph Academy 351; 4. Avon 360; 5. Avon Lake 362; 6. Keystone 372; 7. (tie) Milan Edison and Painesville Riverside 388; 9. Westlake 403; 10. Sandusky Perkins 405; 11. Avon B 418; 12. Rocky River 423; 13. Huron 424; 14. Norwalk 427; 15. Olmsted Falls 449.
Leading the way for Avon was freshman Sedona Benedict, who shot 85, and sophomore Jocelyn England, who shot 87. Sophomore Jenavieve Plantner added a 92, followed by freshman Wynter Delarm (96), junior Ella Sisto (97) and freshman Brooklyn Sisto (98).
The Eagles will be in action again on Wednesday when they face Avon Lake in a dual match at Sweetbriar Golf Club.
