Avon High School Eagles Fall to Lake Shoregals in Conference Clash
In a much-anticipated conference regular season basketball face-off, the Avon High School Eagles were defeated by the Lake Shoregals with a final score of 50-34 on December 11, 2024, at Lake. The Eagles, led by standouts Alaina Pagan and Jayde Palmer, each scoring 11 points, struggled to overcome a halftime deficit where they trailed 27-17. Despite their efforts, the Shoregals maintained their lead throughout the game. The loss marks the first of the season for the Eagles, bringing their record to 5-1. Coach Castrilla of the Eagles shared thoughts on the night's competition, expressing respect for the seasoned play of the Lake team and optimism for his team's growth. "The season is far from over with 1 loss, but tip my cap to Lake who has more experience in these types of games. Good stepping stone to build off and hope to pull out the win when they play again. As for Jayde Palmer, she is probably the most athletic player on the floor tonight, and it showed with her work on both sides of the ball," he remarked. Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to face the Pioneers next on December 14, 2024, at Elyria. The team hopes to return to their winning ways and leverage the lessons learned from this challenging encounter.
