Avon High School Eagles Soar to State Coaches Cup Victory in Tennis

The Avon High School Eagles varsity tennis team secured a commanding 3-0 win over the St. Ignatius Wildcats in the Coaches State Cup on May 1 at Fox Creek. In the highly contested game, the outstanding performances by the Eagles were evident. AJ Sidoti led the charge for the Eagles in the first singles position, defeating the Wildcats' Cody Hodge with two straight sets of 6-1, 6-1. His teammate, Jay Kneiss, mirrored Sidoti's success with a clean sweep victory over Shwetan Varanyll during the third singles game, ending 6-0, 6-0. Sivan Manickam and Nicholas Stamatis secured the overall win for the Eagles with a triumph in the second doubles game. The duo outplayed the Wildcats' Aldo Guillermo and Ryan Lawler. The Eagles' triumph extends beyond the day's win as they powered past the St. Ignatius Wildcats, securing a spot in the Sweet 16 of the State Coaches Cup. Looking forward, the Eagles will host their next event on home turf. They are set to face Westlake in the next round. Date is TBA. Go Eagles’
