Avon High School Eagles Soar to Victory on Senior Night Against Midview Middies

AVON, Ohio — In an inspiring display of skill and teamwork, the Avon High School varsity soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a resounding 9-1 victory over Midview High School on September 25, 2024. The Eagles dominated the field from the start, establishing a formidable 4-0 lead by halftime before sealing the deal against the Middies under an overcast sky.

Sydney Thomas and Gianna Scott led the scoring frenzy for Avon, with Thomas notching a hat-trick and Scott scoring twice. They were ably supported by Izzy Fusco, Maddie Gettings, Selena Malave, and Skylar Kruszka, each adding their names to the score sheet. Notably, freshman Emma Schriver scored the lone goal for Midview, showing promise for the visiting team. Thomas's early goal set the tone for the Eagles, ultimately being recognized as the game-winning shot.

Senior players Sevilla Anderson, Selena Malave, Skylar Kruszka, Blake Eddy, Gianna Scott, Riley Moran, and Izzy Fusco were honored during the event, marking a memorable occasion for these athletes as they near the end of their high school soccer careers. Anderson, sharing duties with Midview’s Molly Ockuly, was formidable as goalie, contributing to the Eagles' defensive strength.
