Jocelin Ochs knocked in two runs in the top of the seventh and then the Eagles had to hold on in the bottom of the inning Monday as the Eagles eked out a 3-2 decision over host Elyria in Southwestern Conference play. Avon is now 10-11 overall and 7-7 in the SWC.
Ochs led the Eagles with three hits and two runs batted in. Jordan Aysh added two hits and a walk, and Maria Young had two hits. Young also pitched a complete game, striking out 16.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when Katie Heilmann executed a squeeze bunt to score Ochs.
