Baseball team remains hot with 13-5 victory over Painesville Riverside
Avon’s bats came alive with 15 hits Thursday as the Eagles won for the sixth time in seven outings with a 13-5 non-conference victory over visiting Painesville Riverside.
Sam Griffiths, Nick Lombardy and Bryce Chura each had three hits for Avon, which raised its record to 10-12 with the victory. Griffiths had a home run among his three safeties and also scored two runs and knocked in two. Lombardy scored three runs and knocked in two, while Chura scored twice and had two RBI. In addition, Gavin Koehler had three RBIs, Nathan Peters had two, and Trevor Sykora had two hits and an RBI.
The Eagles allowed a run in the top of the first inning but then exploded for eight in the bottom of the second. Ben Strichek allowed four earned runs in 4.1 innings to earn the victory.
Avon is scheduled to play again on Saturday at North Canton Hoover.
